Being productive

I always admire people who can be focused in any circumstances, and do their job no matter what. I find it difficult. But always wanted to find reason why I can’t focus so easily. And if you’re struggling find productivity on daily basis I am with you.

For me very helpful is clean environment: desk area where I’m working. I feel better when my desk is literally empty. Some people like messy desk. Desk changes perspective, it changes your mood, it gives you energy, so firstly if you don’t feel productive look around yourself, is it your environment?  I found photographs on the internet of all kinds of working places. Which one describes you best?

I’m a morning person, my greatest ideas comes when it’s still bright outside (or of course in the shower) but in the night it’s difficult for me to focus. If you find yourself unproductive maybe you need to work at different time of the day?

I usually like to bribe myself. I promise myself piece of chocolate when I do everything I promised myself. But honestly sometimes I just eat the damn chocolate without doing anything…

I thought of another one while writing this post. Don’t get distracted. I was so into writing, and researching, my head was spinning from all the thoughts, and then I got a phone call… I forgot half of everything I was thinking about.  If you really need to do something silence your phone, don’t go on social media, don’t get distracted.

Other thing that helps me focus is music. I know most people get distracted but I can’t work in silence. I usually play mellow and calm music. There’s a lot of good playlists on Spotify.

Although it sounds good in theory in reality it doesn’t go so easy. What’s your method to stay focused? Leave a comment. 🙂

    This is my desk:

    Monday Morning

I turn off my phone completely, and I have limited Facebook, Twitter, Chess, YouTube and other distracting websites to a maximum of one hour per day on my browsers. It’s sad that I have to force myself like that, but it helps.

This is a great post to share ideas about focus. Organization and cleanliness are key, as well as preventing distraction. Get dividers and stackers for desk, silverware, closets and drawers; labelled binders and sheet protectors for paperwork; purchase essential home office supplies, like stapler, scissors, binders, sheet protectors, document-sized kraft envelopes file cabinets or storage boxes, etc. — it really helps to have eveything in its place. I think you’ve just inspired me to write my own post about this.

My mind often wanders, but it doesn’t keep me from getting the task at hand accomplished. Whatever I’m doing I like to do it in an organized environment. If things are too messy, I have to take time out to straighten in order to refocus.

I happen to like the satisfaction of crossing tasks off a list. On the other hand I try not to be so hard on myself about this productivity business. Like if I feel like doing nothing all day I promise myself the next time I feel perky & energetic I’ll get a lot done then.

And I go swimming. I love pools, indoor and outdoor. After 1000 meters my head is clear and negative thoughts are gone. This is my recipe. By the way, thanks for following my Web Magazine sl4lifestyle. Very happy about it.

Thank you for finding and following me! I enjoyed reading this honest post and it is a pleasure following back. I am organized to a point but don’t fuss about dust in the corner or a newspaper on the table. But I don’t understand how many people live in filth, too lazy to keep their home clean, right?

I find being out in the fresh air revitalizes my brain and love to walk and become invigorated – I also find inspiration in the shower. Blessings back to you, 🙂

I find that writing lists really helps me stay focussed and productive. I also like to move around frequently as opposed to just sitting for hours at my desk. Great post!

Many decades ago I had a life insurance agent who was the definition of messy. I dreaded even walking into her office. Then I moved a thousand miles away. A couple of years later, I returned to my home state to visit family and friends, and I stopped by to see her. Nothing had changed. In one corner she had a floor-to-ceiling stack of file folders. Most people using filing cabinets. Not her. She came out to meet me, said, “Oh, wait. Let me get your file folder,” walked over to that 10-foot stack and pulled mine out of the middle. I was amazed. File folders were all manila. No colored ones. Nothing sticking out to indicate that I might be coming by. No way could she know where my file folder was. I decided then and there not to be critical of how other people run their lives and businesses. If they are happy, healthy, and making money, I’m all for it.
